"Melancholy"

"Melancholy" by Ang Hell and Gianmaria Seveso
An exhibition of illustrations that open up to a world to be listen.
"Melancholy is a very complex state of mind and difficult to explain. First of all, it must be specified that it is not a simple feeling but a mood, that is, a sum of several feelings and emotions. It is like the desire, deep down in the soul, for something one does not possess, but which one painfully misses."
Ang Hell
"The painter paints on canvas. Musicians, on the other hand, paint their pictures on silence."
(Leopold Stokowski)
This quote from the English master Leopold Stokowski sums up in a nutshell the reason for this collaboration for an exhibition of illustrative works.
The differences between painters and illustrators are very few and lie primarily in their different perceptions of time: painting freezes time, while illustration conveys a sense of movement and sequentiality.
The proposal was created with the aim of enriching the visitor's experience by bringing them even closer to the works themselves, engaging their sensitivity and curiosity, and then seeing them through different eyes.
All five musical tracks are coherently linked to the same themes illustrated in the artist's prints. And this is precisely why the quote from Maestro Stokowski finds its maximum expression: the visual and audio aspects are not different but rather address the same theme seen and interpreted from two different perspectives: that of an illustrator and that of a sound designer.
The idea of extending not only visually but also in terms of sound, together with the choice of having the two worlds coexist in the same time and place, offers the visitor a complete and unusual experience, thus allowing the stimulation of multiple perceptive senses, not limited to sight alone.
